Meet Our Team

STEPHEN J. REHFUSS, ESQ., was born in Albany, New York.  He is a graduate of Siena College (Cum Laude), Albany Law School of Union University and is admitted to practice in the State of New York, United States Federal District Court, Northern District of New York, the United States Second Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.  He served as an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Albany 1985-1992.  He has extensive trial experience and devotes 100% of his practice to representing parties in personal injury, commercial and civil rights litigation.  He has a proven record of representing both plaintiffs and defendants and has been retained by individuals injured in car accidents, medical malpractice and slip and fall matters, as well as contractors, municipalities and public housing authorities.  He is currently a member of the Albany County and the New York State Bar Associations, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, and the Capital District Trial Lawyers Association.

Mr. Rehfuss was a high school and college All American in swimming and is currently an active participant in triathlons.  He is a two time participant in the Lake Placid Ironman triathlon.  Mr. Rehfuss is also involved in a number of charitable and community activities.

ABIGAIL W. REHFUSS, ESQ., is a graduate of Loyola University Maryland and Albany Law School. She is admitted to practice in the State of New York, the United States Federal District Court for the Northern District of New York, and the United States Second Circuit Court of Appeals. She concentrates her practice in the areas of personal injury and civil litigation. She is currently a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Northern District of New York Federal Court Bar Association.

While in law school, Abigail served as the Managing Editor for Submissions for the Albany Government Law Review. In 2015, her article, The Domestic Use of Drones and the Fourth Amendment, was published in Volume 8, Issue I of the Albany Government Law Review. At Loyola, Abigail was a Division I All-American lacrosse player and received a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Writing and Philosophy.

KARA L. BAKER is a native Floridian, growing up in Palm Beach, Florida. After graduating from the University of Jacksonville with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Speech Communication with a minor in Linguistics, Kara began her career in the legal field, working for a personal injury firm primarily focusing on social security, workers compensation and medical malpractice cases.  Before relocating to New York, Kara moved to insurance defense, working as the lead litigation paralegal, specializing in construction defect, products liability and premises liability, gaining over seven years of experience. Kara’s other areas of focus include civil litigation, estate and probate, traffic offenses, and commercial and residential real estate transactions.

Outside of the office, Kara enjoys spending time with her husband and three rescue dogs, hiking in the Adirondacks, and building furniture.
